In Colombia, Hilton has signed six multimillion-dollar franchise agreements.

Christopher J. Nassetta, the company's
president and CEO, has signed six additional franchise agreements with METRO
Hotels to open additional properties in popular tourist destinations over the
next five years.
Two hotels are now being built and are
slated to open in 2013. In Barranquilla and Cartagena, they are both Hampton by
Hilton properties. There will be 125 rooms in Barranquilla and 132 rooms in
Cartagena. The four additional new hotels' locations are yet to be revealed.
In a company news release, the anticipated
development cost of the six hotels was also not provided. Analysts in the
hospitality industry, on the other hand, predict that the building cost alone
will be in the millions.
Hilton's vice president of development for
South America, Cristiano Gonçalves, views "Hilton Worldwide sees Colombia
as a key strategic development market. The inclusion of these new sites
demonstrates the amazing momentum behind our region-wide multi-brand expansion
strategy."
METRO Hotels' Development Director, Felipe
Galeano, stated that his company is "convinced of the Hampton product's
tremendous potential in Colombia's major and intermediate cities. For the
Colombian business traveler, we believe it provides the ideal degree of luxury,
service, security, and cost efficiency."
According to Phil Cordell, who is in charge
of Hilton's global focused service and Hampton brand management, "For
budget-conscious business and leisure travelers, Hampton by Hilton is an

The 125-room Hampton by Hilton Barranquilla
will be part of a mixed-use development in the center of Barranquilla's
commercial district. The 132-room Hampton by Hilton Cartagena will be located
near the Convention Center and the Old City in the Bocagrande neighborhood. In
Latin America, Hampton Hotels now has 16 locations and wants to extend its
footprint throughout the continent.
The Hampton by Hilton brand's trademark
amenities will be available at both hotels, including a trendy Perfect Mix
lobby, free Wi-Fi throughout, and the Jump Start fitness center.
According to a press statement from Hilton,
the new hotels are "planned and styled to appeal to both business and
leisure tourists," and will "provide best-in-class service and
comfort." The free On the House hot breakfast, a 24-hour snack space, and
a bar area with nighttime dining options are all available to assist guests
interact after meetings.
In Latin America, Hilton Worldwide now
maintains a portfolio of 50 hotels and resorts, three of which are in Colombia.
Hilton Bogota, Hilton Cartagena, and Embassy Suites by Hilton Bogota - Rosales
are the three hotels.
The company is "actively pursuing more
Latin American growth prospects with a solid development pipeline" that
includes sites in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Panama, and Peru,
according to the news release.
